Introduction to the AACC Annual Meeting

2012 promises to be a banner year for the AACC Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo, with more than 2000 booths packed into the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This year’s AACC Annual Meeting and Clinical Lab Expo will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 15 to 19 in Los Angeles. A newly energized downtown since the last time the event was held in Los Angeles in 2004 will greet attendees. Inside the convention center and at the JW Marriott Hotel, where some meetings are scheduled, a host of fascinating topics will be addressed, including personalized medicine, bioinformatics, genome sequencing and the intersection of research and ethics. Heady stuff, but with real-world applications: Paolo Fortina, MD, PhD, who chairs the organizing committee, notes that speakers have been asked to focus on how lab professionals will “apply the results of this research to their routine work in laboratories and clinics.”

Five plenary sessions top this year’s program. They are:

Sunday, July 15, from 5 to 6:30 PM
Entering the Era of Genomic Medicine: Research Opportunities and Challenges
