An Overview of the Awards Program

The Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition is the premier awards program for the medical technology community. The awards recognize the many people behind the scenes: the engineers, scientists, designers, and clinicians, who are responsible for the groundbreaking innovations that are changing the face of healthcare.

The program is open worldwide to companies and individuals involved in the design, engineering, manufacture, or distribution of finished medical devices or medical packaging. Awards are offered in 10 different categories, one of which is in vitro diagnostics.

The MDEA competition is sponsored by IVD Technology’s sister publication, Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry (MD&DI), and organized by Canon Communications. Corporate sponsorship for the 2004 competition was provided by Avail Medical Products (Ft. Worth, TX), DuPont Medical Packaging (Wilmington, DE), The MedTech Group Inc. (South Plainfield, NJ), NuSil Silicone Technology (Carpinteria, CA), and Putnam Plastics Corp. (Dayville, CT).
The awards program is a prestigious, publicity charged event. For information about how to enter the MDEA competition, visit the awards Web site at www.mdeawards.com, or call the MDEA committee at 310/445-4200.
