|Monoclonal Antibodies to Chikungunya Virus|
Three new monoclonal antibodies specific to the Chikungunya virus, and two monoclonal antibodies that are Alphavirus-group specific, are available. Chkungunya virus can be found in tropical Asia and Africa. It typically causes a two- to three-day fever, sometimes with an associated rash. Arthritic pain in the joints and limbs often follows and can last up to weeks or months. The virus, a member of the Alphavirus group, is transmitted by the bite of an infected Aedes mosquito and is therefore an Arbovirus.
